I'm completely blown away at the opportunity to share thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc. via this venue! Today I went to Hana with some community partners to assist in an effort to set up an infant/toddler program. It was rewarding to make a contribution with peers that will ultimately make a difference for young children and their families.

- Aloha! My name is Debbi and I am the program director of Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. Head Start. My work with young children started in 1983 as a parent volunteer at my daughter's preschool. I was inspired by the teachers and their ability to make such a difference in the lives of young children. I obtained an Associates degree through Maui Community College in 1991. I was a single parent of 4 children, working two jobs to make ends meet for ten years (1995-2005). This made my goal of obtaining a Bachelor's degree seem impossible. Today, I am happily remarried to a GREAT man that supports me 100%. I have three daughters (Adrienne, Sheena, and Michelle), and one son (James). I also have two BEAUTIFUL grandsons (Kala - 5 and Ramsey - 3) - they are the light of my life!! My favorite activities include working out, watching movies, reading, listening to good music, traveling, and going out to relaxing dinners with my best friend...my husband Jeff.
